sandy feet writes!

Most of my published work falls into three categories: Stuff about sand castles; stuff about South Padre Island and stuff about me and my friends. Sounds boring, I know. However, the rave reviews keep coming in. Certain kinds of people seem to find my sense of humor refreshing.

Go figure.

I have also written a few songs which I perform - rarely and exclusively - with Amazin' Walter and/or the Saturn Street Strummers. The most famous one would have to be (sung with a native Michigander's best shot at a Texas twang) --

The Unlitter Song

Whenever you're down Rio Grande way
Soakin' up the rays on South Padre
Bring you a hotdog, bring you a beer
You can bring anything you like but
DON'T LEAVE IT HERE!

Uuuuunlitter it, uuuuunlitter it
Everyone needs to uuuuunlitter it
Clean white beaches we hold so dear
You can bring anything you want but
DON'T LEAVE IT HERE!

The Sons of the Beach well, we LIVE here,
And when it comes to litterin' our message is clear
If you see a piece of glass just sparklin' in the sand
Stoop down pick it up and
THROW IT IN THE CAN!

Well ol' mamma sea turtle's heading this way
Looking for a nice beach for her eggs to lay
Little baby turtle will return some year
So if you see some turtle eggs,
PLEASE LEAVE THEM HERE!

You can bring your bikini, bring your guitar
Bring lots of money and leave it in a bar
You can bring your honey, bring your fishin' gear
You can even bring your mother-in-law but
DON'T LEAVE HER HERE!

(Well, it never made top 40 or anything but I wrote it because I believed it and Walter and I have performed it about a zillion times, I reckon.)
