For about the same price as lunch at Mickey D's, you can learn how to build a better sandcastle and have more fun on the beach forever. Schedule: M/W/F Memorial Day-Labor Day; Saturdays (travel* and weather permitting) the rest of the year. Starting at 3 PM and lasting anywhere from 30-120 minutes. Location: Beach Access #16 by Suntide II (Wave Stop #23) Turn beachward on Saturn at Blackbeards .. see map at right Cost: $10/person. Kids age 6 and younger free when accompanied - and assisted - by a (paying) adult. (Note: sandcastling involves moving large amounts of sand and employing techniques that require mature motor skills, which is why it is not a really fun activity for a very small child.) Payment: Cash only, correct change is greatly appreciated. Meet and pay the instructor (she will be wearing a sandcastle t-shirt and carrying a big shovel) on the beach walkover starting at 2:50. Please try to be prompt - I wait until 3:05 and if no one has shown up by then I leave. Parking: There is a small public parking lot at access #16 and parking on the shoulder of Gulf Blvd. is allowed as long as you keep off the pavement and don't obstruct anyone's driveway. The WAVE is a free bus that runs up and down South Padre Island all day every day and is a great way to get around town! Reservations: Are optional but would help us plan and also allow us to contact you if we need to cancel for any reason. *sandy feet has to hit the road sometimes and when she is out of town, the workshops won't happen. Please call 956-761-6222 to confirm.
